cryptofolio is designed from the ground up to collect as little data as possible. This page explains exactly what is and isn't stored when you use the service.
What we store
When you create a portfolio, cryptofolio stores the following — and nothing more:
- A randomly generated UUID that identifies your portfolio (e.g.,
a1b2c3d4-...). - The coin codes, quantities, and optional labels you add to your holdings.
- Your preferred display currency (e.g., USD, EUR), if set.
- Periodic snapshots of your total portfolio value in USD, used to render the portfolio history chart. These snapshots contain no coin-level detail.
None of this data is linked to your name, email address, IP address, or any other identifier. There is no account. There is no login. There is no way for us to know who you are.
What we don't collect
- No name, email address, or phone number.
- No password or authentication credentials.
- No IP address logging beyond what any standard web server records transiently in memory.
- No browser fingerprint or device identifiers.
- No behavioural analytics or session recordings.
- No advertising or retargeting data.
Cookies and local storage
cryptofolio does not use tracking cookies. Your preferred colour theme (dark or light) is saved in browser local storage — a client-side mechanism that never leaves your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
No third-party cookies are set by cryptofolio itself. The two footer links to crypto.com are referral links; if you click them and visit crypto.com, their own privacy policy applies.
How your portfolio URL works
Your portfolio lives at a URL like https://cryptofolio.info/portfolio/<uuid>.
The UUID is a randomly generated 128-bit identifier — there are
approximately 340 undecillion possible values, making it practically impossible to guess.
Anyone who has your URL can view your portfolio, so treat it like a password:
save it in a password manager or bookmark and don't share it publicly.
Price data and third-party services
Live cryptocurrency prices are fetched server-side from the crypto.com exchange API. This means your browser never communicates with crypto.com directly — only our server does. Google Fonts are loaded from Google's CDN for the site's typography; this is a standard web request and is subject to Google's privacy policy.
Data retention and deletion
Portfolio data is retained for as long as the portfolio contains at least one holding. Empty portfolios are automatically deleted after a short period of inactivity. To delete your portfolio, simply remove all holdings — the portfolio will be cleaned up automatically. Because there is no account, there is no "delete account" flow.
